Hazel Grove Baptist church

The Furniture Station is a local charity based at Hazel Grove Baptist Church. We collect unwanted, good-quality items of furniture & household items from Stockport and surrounding areas in order to provide them to families & individuals in need in Stockport for just a nominal charge.

Each year, we support approximately 1,000 homes in Stockport with a delivery of basic, essential re-used furniture through the re-use of around 3,500 items that may have otherwise gone to landfill.

We work in partnership with Hazel Grove Baptist Church, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council and Stockport Homes in order to help families within our community to maintain tenancy and prevent homelessness.

Established in 1994, The Furniture Station celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2014 and in 2015 was awarded The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award given to local volunteer groups across the UK to recognise outstanding work in their communities.

We are proud to work as a team of 5 staff and around 28 volunteers contributing some 4,000 hours annually to carry out the core operations of our activities and allow us to support local residents to live more independently through the re-use of good-quality furniture.
