We have had a frenetic month here at HGBC working with our local Schools. It has been a privilege to work with staff and pupils. Here are some of the things we have been up to:
Hazel Grove High Schools' Christmas presentation.
Our close link with local schools is just one way we are blessing our community.
We are getting really excited here at HGBC as we look forward to a fantastic Christmas. It's great to enjoy the presents, holidays and food but also to reflect on what the reason for the season is. Please find the details of all the service you will enjoy as you discover why we are celebrating.
We would also like to wish you a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
We had well over 300 people attend our Fun Day. Great cakes, hot dogs, bouncy castles and a guest appearance by the minions. All for £1. Add to that face painting, craft, WiiU, pool and air hockey. We certainly put a smile on peoples faces on a wet and windy day in Cheshire.
We had an amazing Baptismal service on Sunday 4th October and 13th December 2015. In total six people were baptised and heard some incredible testimonies.
Well done everyone.
The young people from HGBC had a great weekend at the North West Baptist Association Impact weekend. All the amazing activities kept people busy. There was also time time to meet with other youth groups and meet with God.
Watch this space for next years booking information.
On 28th and 29th September 2015 Seedlings held a Coffee morning. It was great to catch up over a cuppa and enjoy some gorgeous cakes. We are now sending the money raised to Macmillan Cancer Support. Thankyou to everyone who helped out.
We are very excited to announce that prominent Christian worship leader and singer-songwriter Cathy Burton will be in concert at HGBC. Cathy will be playing her trademark, heartfelt and emotionally honest songs, and will be accompanied by guest musicians. As well as over an hour of live music, there will also be inspiring presentations and visuals, including footage of MAF's vital work in the developing world. You can find out about the work of MAF here: MAF
This promises to be a great event which anyone can attend, including friends who don't know Jesus. It's an amazing opportunity for people to see God's love in action through MAF's work.Tickets and more information to follow soon.
We had a great time at this years Holiday Club with over 70 children attending every day. As well as the usual fun, song, craft and games the children loved listening to stories og Bible Hero's.
We also had a great time Friday eveing meeting the parenst and telling them all we had learnt. It ended with a big Family Service on Sunday morning.
Even before everything was packed away we started to look forward to the next Holiday Club. Watch this space for times and dates and book early as this one was fully booked.
In July over 250 primary school pupils came to the church for our annual Get Together Year 6 (GTY6) event. In a fun packed morning the young people met with the other children who will be at the same High School as them, they took part in team building events and had fun together. We ended the morning with an opportunity for the pupils to ask questions to older children who made the move in previous years.
Here is some of the team getting ready for the primary schools and then the puppets doing their thing.
We had a great day at the Funday with well over 400 people coming along for burgers, sausages, drinks and chocolate fountain. All that thrown in with the bouncy castles, photo shoot, cafe area, prayer space and splat the rat! We also had a special visit from Elsa and Anna from Frozen.
Here's a picture of the team ready to kick the event off.
More photo's to follow.
On Maundy Thursday, HGBC gave out over 220 free Easter eggs as a 'random act of kindness' to commuters in Hazel Grove.
It was incredible to see peoples faces, beam with delight, as we gave them a free Easter Egg. Believe it or not we even gave chocolate to someone dressed as a dart board!!! Another passenger even took time to take to twitter to thank us.
We were just pleased to share the love of Christ with people and help Hazel Grove commuters start the bank holiday weekend with a smile. Easter is very important for us as a church and we want to encourage everyone to remember the meaning behind the Easter story.
Over the weekend we will be displaying, throughout the church, the pictures we took at The Big Chocolate Giveaway!
This week Hazel Grove Baptist Church are delighted to host two local schools.
On Tuesday Hazel Grove High School will be holding the Year 7 rewards evening. This is a chance for us to celebrate all that is good in the classroom, on the sports field, those who have good attendance and to congratulate pupils who have been achieving and working hard since joining from primary school.
On Thursday Hazel Grove Primary School will be joining us for their Easter Celebration. In previous years this has been held in the school but we are delighted that they are joining us for a morning or songs, bible readings and fun.
